Arielle Young PHOTOGRAPHY
ABOUT
NY-based Photographer, Arielle Young, grew up in the cozy Village of Elmsford. With an inborn passion for art, she was best known among her friends and family for her detailed sketches of prehistoric creatures and futuristic cars that (more often than not) wound up scribbled on the back of homework and test booklets. After graduating high school, she sought a degree in Industrial Design at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Three years later transferring to SUNY Purchase College in NY, where she sought and obtained a degree in Journalism with a focus in both Asian Studies and Visual Arts.
It was there she discovered her true passion for visual storytelling. Immediately inspired by Professors like Nandita Raman, Robert Sabo and Renqiu Yu, Arielle started to explore both historic and current events through images. With an unquenchable curiosity and push for adventure, documenting not only journalistic stories but the beauty that resides in everyday moments - was all consuming.
"I have always been inspired by strength, both in people and in things. I am attracted to their discipline, hardships, and stories. For as long as I can remember, I have never felt satisfied with my singular perspective. In some strange way, I feel like I can see the world differently when I use a camera.
For that reason, I often find myself in the shadows of these individuals or scenes that leave me in a state of awe, whether they are doing something extraordinary or something subtle.
There is always something to be admired in the way strength occupies space. It's my hope to somehow capture those moments visually.” - AY
